Ladybird Love…
Lovely little ladybug, sent from heaven above, please watch over my garden and fill it up with love.

Despite being our most common native ladybird in the UK, sadly the seven-spot ladybird is, like so much of our wildlife, in decline. Having said that, these two that I photographed over a decade ago on our then allotment in Berkshire seemed intent on bucking that trend..!!
The challenge with macro-photography such as this, is getting the depth-of-field deep enough to get all four eyes in focus – in this image, I got them side-on and it seems to have worked.
I did get one other shot of these two ‘love-birds’ and in many ways I prefer the composition, which is a bit more interesting – the one small problem is that the lower ladybird isn’t perfectly in focus…does that matter – I’ll let you decide which one you prefer…?
