Wyke Regis on Sea…
…Out of every ten folk you meet [in Weymouth] nine of ’em in love…
Diggory Venn in Hardy's The Return of the Native
I recently spent a glorious day exploring Weymouth and it happened to coincide with discovering that my new phone had a ‘panorama’ function. Once i had enjoyed some sensational fish and chips down by the harbour, I spent a happy hour taking pictures of the old rambling dock-side buildings of Custom House Quay.
This one image came out just right and after adjusting it with another recent discovery on my phone, the HDR effect, i thought it caught the atmosphere and character of the place in the most wonderful way…a very pleasing outcome…!
Not long after this trip to Weymouth, on another stunning summer’s day, I tried to achieve the same effect in Fowey, Cornwall. The resulting image certainly caught the bright freshness and warmth of the day, but I just couldn’t get the composition as good as I had in Weymouth…great memories of a beautiful day though…
